1961: Inner Temple

Teachings to treasure, teachings that transform. On this auspicious year 2015 commenting the 90th birthday of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, we offer a compilation of key messages from the over 140 discourses in the month of July, including Guru Poornima Days between the years 1958 and 2009.

1961: Inner Temple

When the Lord (Swamy) is by your side, things beyond one’s physical impediments are accomplished.
Heart is the lotus where Lord has to installed for worship
You develop your devotion, faith and spiritual discipline when you are surrounded by kindred aspirants
You don’t need to undertake pilgrimages for spiritual change. All places of pilgrimage are in yourself. Spiritual change comes about when “human-god” (nara-narayana) bond is established and commemorated. If one is rid of delusion one becomes ‘narayana’, one sunk in delusion is human
A pilgrimage is for softening the heart, widening the outlook, expanding the circle of sympathy.  Pilgrims should maintain silence during pilgrimage, as silent as the eyelids dropping on the eye. Pilgrimage is the best way to spend time and money, provided one has real devotion. Devotion is no sign of weakness; it is a sign of courage, of wisdom, of discrimination; it alone can give happiness and peace.

Points to Ponder
·       What is the real purpose of a pilgrimage?

·      How should we go about our spiritual change process?
