32. Human Body is a temple
Our Saint Thirumoolar lovingly shares his personal experience of divine bliss to all people. He sings in this poem, how God (Siva) showered His grace by coming in the form of a guru (teacher) and guided our Saint to experience divine bliss.
Coming in the form a guru (teacher) God (Siva) immersed me in his ocean of divine bliss.
அடிபுனைந்து – with his divine lotus feet
With his blessings, God put His feet on his head, says our Saint Thirumoolar.
God blessed our Saint Thirumoolar to cultivate devotion at His lotus feet.
God showered His blessings and fed our Saint Thirumoolar the nectar of divine bliss.
In my heart.
Our Saint explains beautifully how God showered His blessings and dwelled in his heart. God as guru (teacher) after entering his heart, bestowed our Saint with several blissful experiences. He elaborates that after we experience bliss, devotion to God grows in our hearts. His message is that we should cultivate that devotion and get the full benefit of those blissful experiences. When devotion to God matures, we can experience bliss constantly.

Next our Saint Thirumoolar sings that Human body is a temple. Our heart is the inner sanctum of that temple. Inside that sanctum, God resides as the indweller. Our Saint Thirumoolar sings with ecstasy.
பெருங்கோயில் – the inner sanctum inside the temple; ஆலயம் – temple.
We have a tradition in the ancient culture of India to call the inner sanctum which is a smaller room as the “bigger temple”.
For God who showered his blessings and dwells in our heart.
The body is the temple, the heart is the inner sanctum, the mouth is the main entrance to the temple!
Once we have experienced divine bliss, our soul will be the idol (linga) for worship.
கள்ளப் புலன் – The senses that trick and bring down many of us from realizing our true nature. காளா – ever glowing, not extinguished. மணிவிளக்கு – lamps lit in temples.
The five senses of our human body are verily the five lamps shining brilliantly in the temple of our human body.
Once we get divine wisdom, the five senses shine as lamps that do not diminish. Until we get divine wisdom, the five senses are merely limbs.
For those who are devoted, the senses are lamps that show them the divine (siva lingam).

As per the literature laid down by our spiritual masters, it is possible for us to adopt our human body as the temple in which there are specific locations for our worship. These are only taught confidentially by a teacher (guru) to a spiritual aspirant. Our Saint Thirumoolar has lovingly shared these sacred insights with these beautiful poems. How fortunate we are!
