8-2. Nine Sacred Techniques taught by Saint Thirumoolar
To share with others the divine bliss that he experienced, our Saint shares with us several sacred techniques. These are grouped into nine secret techniques. Our elders say that these nine techniques may be considered the essence of the vedic texts. In the Sanskrit text, these techniques are called "tantra". The revelation of a tantra is also traditionally called "tantra reincarnation".
The first section of the tantra is sermon (in Sanskrit upadesam). In Sanskrit, upadesam means to "be near someone and make the person aware". As per the evolution of each individual the lord stays near us and make us aware of his bliss. this is the true meaning if this section.
The divine life principle comes down from the sky. That divine principle is eternal, and like the divine it has no beginning nor end. This divine principle is born in the world by entering a body as per the karma of that being. We can see in the Bhagavat Geeta lord Krishna's word saying the same point.
விண்ணின்று - coming down from the sky; இழிந்து - coming down to earth; வினைக்கீடாய் - according to the karma of that being; மெய்கொண்டு - taking a body.
The lord brings down the divine principle from the sky, and allows it to enter the body of beings as per their respective karmas, and operates within each body being fully part of it. What an amazing task says our Saint Thirumoolar.
தண்ணின்ற - the blemishless divine that is always compassionate and cool; தாளைத் - his lotus feet; தலைக்காவல் முன்வைத்து - graciously chooses the appropriate life principle suitable for each being and protects each being residing inside the being's body.
The lord's compassionate lotus feet, walks in front of the life principle, and binds the life principle inside the body of each being. As if that protection is not sufficient, the lord resides inside the being's inner heart and supports as the in-dweller. How nice !
உண்ணின்று - residing inside as if inseparable from the body of the being; உருக்கி - ripen the being spiritually; யோர் ஒப்பிலா ஆனந்தக் கண்ணின்று காட்டிக் - as the devotion to the lord grows more and more, an incomparable joy flows as tears in our eyes. The lord expresses his joy in the form of tears in our eyes. He reveals his blissful form to us in our eyes, and களிம்பறுத் தானே - releases the dirt (such as ego) that has been binding us to the body.
When the lord removes the dirt he showers the life principle (atma) inside us with an immeasurable joy !
As we experience and begin see again and again the divine vision inside us, the dirts that are binding our atma are also released one by one! So sings our Saint Thirumoolar.
